In the last week, there was a big poker tournament in Vietnam at Hoiana Resort & Golf in Hoi An. It lasted for six days and many players took part in Poker Dream 7 Vietnam. A lot more money was won than they expected – they thought it would be around USD 820, but it ended up being about USD 928,440. They had over 1,300 people joining in the games.
When the money came in, 143 people who survived came back to the table. They were looking at the top prize, which was worth VND 3,810,000,000 (about USD 156,240). On the last day, there were only ten players left. They sat at the final table, and Pham Quyet Tien, who had the most chips on Day 2, was in the lead.
Main Event Final Table Recap
Vietnam’s Nguyen Thi Bao An won the Poker Dream 7 Vietnam Main Event. She played for over seven hours at the final table. This makes her the first female champion in Poker Dream 7 Vietnam history. She beat France’s Malouch Jean Mathieu in the final round and won the Dream Golden Dragon trophy. Before this, they already agreed to split the prize money in a three-way deal. Nguyen Thi Bao An got VND 2,344,965,500 (about USD 96,160) as her share. This was a big win for her. She earned her spot in the Main Event by winning the Halloween Costume Championship Contest. She kept going and won it all.
In the last game, Nguyen Thi Bao An was the first to make someone lose. She beat Nguyen Minh Thanh, who had the least chips, with her Queen of Diamonds and Queen of Clubs, while Nguyen Minh Thanh had Queen of Spades and Nine of Hearts. On the other side, Nguyen Duc Anh was cautious with his chips. He not only saved them but also won a 50-50 chance against Nguyen The Anh and made him lose the game.
With seven players left, Malouch played aggressively and knocked out two opponents – Yashiro Naoki in 7th place and Pham Quyet Tien in 6th place, gaining a good amount of chips. Nguyen Quang Hung, who was once leading, saw his chip count decrease after losing several rounds. With only 12 big blinds left, he couldn’t beat Malouch and finished 5th. Malaysia’s Chong Khai Bin also lost to Malouch with a small stack and was out of the game soon after.
Malouch gets the most money, around VND 2,830,000,000 (about USD 116,050), because they had about half of the chips. Nguyen Duc Anh, who had the least chips at the beginning, got the second-highest prize. He left the game after losing with his Ace of club and 10 of diamond against Nguyen Thi Bao An’s Q of club and 10 of hearts.
During the game, Malouch was ahead by almost two times, but he quickly lost his lead when he tried to trick his opponent with a big bet three times in a row. He had a combination of cards like 10 of spades, 7 of hearts, 4 of hearts, 5 of clubs, and Queen of clubs, along with 6 of clubs. On the other side, Nguyen Thi Bao An had a pair of fours, with a King of clubs and 4 of clubs. She kept playing confidently, even risking her whole Poker Dream 7 Vietnam tournament.
Things changed when Malouch took a big risk by betting a lot of his chips with a King of diamonds and 10 of clubs. His opponent, having an Ace of clubs and a 6 of diamonds, decided to match his bet. The community cards didn’t help either player, and in the end, Nguyen Thi Bao An won the game and became the Poker Dream 7 Vietnam Main Event champion.
